Scholarships


The Smith Family Foundation of New Jersey is committed to supporting Higher Education as a Normal Next Step for youth. The staff and trustees of the Smith Family Foundation NJ welcomes applications from high school seniors who are determined to be the change they want to see in their communities. Successful applicants will be making the transition into a 2- or 4-year college, university, or trade school, have performed a minimum of 10 hours of community service, and agree to participate in our leadership development program: Pathways to Student Success, for the duration of their academic career.

The Founder's Scholarship

 Applicants must have an active IEP, a minimum GPA of 2.5 and have completed 10 hours of community service. Awardees will receive a total of $5,000 and a College Care Package for both semesters. (East Orange and Trenton Only)

Christian Ministry Scholarship

Applicants must be involved in the ministry of their local church congregation, maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5, and have completed 10 hours of community service. Awardees will receive a total of $5,000 a College Care Package for both semesters. (Trenton Only)

Lance Liverman Book Scholarship (Ewing HS Graduates ONLY)

Applicants seeking a book scholarship must have a minimum GPA OF 3.0. Awardees will receive $500 and a College Care Package for both semesters. (East Orange and Trenton Only)

The Gregory Wright Jr. Scholarship (Trenton Central High & Nottingham HS Graduates ONLY)
Applicants must be a graduate from Nottingham High School with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Awardees will receive a total of $500 and a College Care Package for both semesters. (Hamilton Only)

Seamon Smith HBCU Scholarship

(2) Applicants must be a high school senior accepted to a HBCU and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Awardees will receive a total of $5,000 and a College Care Package for both semesters. (Trenton Only)

Hazel and Ralph McMillan Scholarship
(2) Applicants must be aging out of foster care, attend a HBCU, and entering their sophomores or junior years with a minimum GPA of 2.6. Awardees will receive a total of $2,500 and a College Care Package for both semesters.

Seamon Smith Rutgers University Scholarship

(2) Applicants must be a Black American enrolled in a program at The Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy of Rutgers University and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Awardees will receive a total of $5,000 and a College Care Package for both semesters. (Rutgers University Only)

#IAmTheChange Vo-Tech Scholarship
For students and adults entering a Vo-Tech/Trade School and have completed 10 hrs of community service. Awardees wil receive a total of $1,000 and a College Care Package. (Trenton Residents Only)
